We’re glad you’re here. Public Service is Cincinnati’s new neighborhood bike shop located in O'Bryonville. As you might have guessed from our name, service is what we do. We specialize in service and repair on everything from the 70’s Schwinn forgotten in your basement, to the latest and greatest in electronic shifting aero race bikes. In the heart of Cincinnati’s east side, we are conveniently located within a few miles of (and offer pickup and delivery to) Hyde Park, Norwood, Avondale, Walnut Hills, Oakley, Mt. Lookout and many more intown neighborhoods.
Public Service Bicycle Works is Haegan and Autumn. Over the years together, bicycles have taken us on some pretty great adventures, and this is the next one. Our story with bikes really starts in 2014 when Autumn, who didn’t ride bikes at the time said, “Yeah, let’s fly to Istanbul and ride across Europe after high school, that sounds like an adventure.” Two 18 year old kids, across the world from home, just trusting we would figure it out. And, for the most part, we did. We bring very different experiences to the shop, but both are centered around the experiences and community that bikes can connect us all to.
Public Service Bicycle Works is the next step in Haegan’s extensive time working in the bicycle industry. The past fifteen years of riding, racing, fixing, and building bikes have provided a unique background and perspective that Haegan brings to the shop. He has raced on the road and track from the junior ranks up to a category 2, toured self supported across Europe, bikepacked through various areas in the US, built hundreds of custom wheels for all kinds of riders, designed and built custom steel frames, and worked on almost every kind of bike you can imagine.
Autumn started riding bikes when she agreed to do a bike tour across Europe with Haegan after high school. In traveling almost 5 months by bike, she came to love how bikes expose you to everything about a place: the elements, the architecture, the transitions between spaces, and the people. This love carried through to all the following bike adventures, from jumping into all kinds of racing (she did her first full season of road racing this year!) to getting to know new neighborhoods.
All of this has informed our views as a shop: Bikes are a tool for adventure, whether that is cutting through a new side street on the way to work, pushing yourself to new limits, or crossing a continent. Public Service Bicycle Works is here to help you make any or all of those adventures a reality, bringing the expertise and community support that riders need. Regardless of where you are headed we are excited to be a part of your ride.
When you come to the shop, you might notice that it feels more like a living room than a bike shop. Bikes and the cycling community are part of our larger home in the world, and we want you to be a part of it. We want @publicservicebicycle to be a place to hang out, connect with your community, re-live adventures, and plan new ones.
